Hello,

I am new to Sierra and trying to figure out if I want to switch from NinjaTrader which I have been using for 2 years...

I am trying to load a simple 500 tick chart same as it would be on Ninja and it doesn't look anything like it and I'm not sure what I would choose from the options...

I have intraday chart, range per bar-standard (in ticks) 500... and it is only showing me 1 bar all day...

Please help... I know all tick charts will display candles different due to data feed but I am not able to get the same chart that I am currently trading...

Thanks Gary

Choose 'Number of Trades Per Bar'.

The term 'tick' more accurately refers to the smallest increment of price movement.

Tom... Thanks for the response. I did what you said with the 500 trades per bar and it is still way off from what I am trying to get...

There are 27 total bars for the day on friday for Sierra and my ninjatrader set to a 500 tick chart had 27 bars by 9:25am EST...

Not sure what to do.

Thanks Gary

Is the 'Intraday Data Storage Time Unit' set to 1 Tick?

To access the setting, go to Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings.

If it wasn't set to 1 tick, you'll need to re-download the data:
Edit >>Delete All Data And Download.

You need to use the Number of Trades Per Bar Bar Period Type. This is fully documented here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_ChartSettings.html#TimePeriodPerBar

Also follow the tick by tick data configuration instructions:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_TickbyTickDataConfiguration.php

Most likely the reason for the difference is because you are comparing a cash market to a futures market. We see you are using the Sierra Chart Real-Time and Historical Forex and CFD Data Service. This does not provide futures data. Only cash/spot market data.

Can you please tell me how to get on the futures market... I am on a free trial and I thought that was my only option.

Thanks Gary.

Please refer to the section here about futures data:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/data.php#FuturesData

If you have a futures trading account, you just need to set Sierra Chart to work with it assuming it is with a supported trading service. Which is most likely.
