I'm setting up a Volume by Price chart. Can you tell me how to show price on the right axis, with a chart set to blank?

Thanks

We do not understand why the Values Scale is getting hidden.

Specifically what are you doing to cause that?

The right axis is not hidden. I'm asking how I can see the current price move up and down on the right axis, when the chart settings are set to blank. No candles or bars on the chart.

We set Chart >> Graph Draw Types to Blank, and the right side price box is still displayed.

When I set it to blank, the price doesn't display. See Attachment.

I wouldn't make this up pal.

Set Chart >> Graph Draw Types to Candlestick and then post an image of the chart again.

This is what we see when the chart Graph Draw Type is set to Blank:

You can see the price box on the right side.

Hi, thanks for getting back with me.

I'm not seeing the price box when the Graph Draw Types is set to Blank, like you are.

Here it is set to Candlestick.

Update Sierra Chart to the current version. This will solve the problem.

That corrected the problem.

Isn't there a warning in Sierra Chart, that tells its users that it's not the latest verion?

No, definitely not because there are always going to be some users who will have difficulty with updates due to their inexperience even though it is an incredibly simple procedure.

And sometimes when there are some small changes in a small area of the vast functionality of Sierra Chart, it can cause a potential issue for the users of that one small area of functionality and it creates more support burden on us when there are questions related to that, even though in many cases these are explained on the What is New page.

This is generally why update notices are not put out. It is more burden on us.

Ok, I understand.

But tell me, the support person last night that treated me like a moran. Shouldn't he or she have known about this simple fix, by suggesting an update?

You have been receiving support from the same person all of this time.

Regarding "moron", we did not understand in the beginning what you were referring to. We did not understand that you were referring to the last trade price box.

And then when we tried to duplicate the problem we could not and so we were puzzled by it and we needed to go through a simplified step-by-step troubleshooting procedure with you.

And finally, once we could see that you did not see the price box with a simplified configuration and an organized step-by-step simplified troubleshooting procedure, we realized we needed to get your Chartbook to try to duplicate the problem.

But as we were asking for that, I then realized what the particular issue was. It was related to code changes we did about a month ago. And actually it technically makes sense that you should not see the price box when the main price graph is hidden. But we added a patch to put that back because another user pointed this issue out.

Sierra Chart is a massive massive program with connections to various external services that have all kinds of potential issues. There is no "support person" here. Only the engineers are providing support and only the engineers who work on the software are qualified to provide proper support. There is no way at all a "Support person" can possibly know everything. This is a complete impossibility and not a reasonable expectation.

If sometimes you feel like we are being rude or treating you like a moron (which is not our intent and we see no evidence of this here), you are far better off with that incorrect impression, rather than being helped by someone inexperienced.

First off I want to say, I've traded with a few other platform, and I Love Sierra Chart.

Two days ago I posted a question about Volume Profile. Now keep in mind as you know Volume by Price has a ton of parameters and there's a lot to learn, and it can be intimidating. I asked a question about not being able to remove Start Dates and End Dates. The Engineer responded as though I was an idiot, then after going back and forth with post a few times, admitted it would be corrected in the next release.

This time, I asked... I'm setting up a Volume by Price chart. Can you tell me how to show price on the right axis, with a chart set to blank? I look at this as being a very clear question. Also, I go out of my way to be sure I'm being respectful to all of you. I don't expect people to always understand my questions, and I don't expect anyone to know everything. I'd would just hope that until someone understands what I'm asking, they don't treat me like a moran until they do understand my question. I can only speak for myself here, but when I come here, I'm already the underdog, feeling like I know about 10% of what any of you know before I humble myself to ask the question.

Thank you for the comment we appreciate it.

We apologize for this. We did not understand the original problem and also it is unusual to have any problem with changing a study Input value. There has never been a known case of this previously.
