Missing Initial Balance Data

Hello,

I am using the spreadsheet study to extract initial balance data for my analysis on /ES.
I am using an intraday chart and then overlaying the initial balance data onto another chart that is attached to the spreadsheet.
I have compiled 1200 days of data, of these days there are 13 days that do not show data for the initial balance. Yet the data for the OHLC for these same days is showing.
I have gone through and excluded all the non-trading days.
To add to the confusion when I go and double check the chart the initial balance lines are there as normal on the dates that are not showing the data in the spreadsheet fields.

I have restarted the whole process in a new chartbook and the same result occurs.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You are going to need to show us very clear evidence of this by showing an image of the chart with the data that you do not see on the Sheet in the Spreadsheet.

Here are instructions to provide an image of the chart:

You also need to provide a screenshot of the Spreadsheet Sheet where the data is missing.

The problem could also be due to what is explained here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/ChartStudies.html#ChartValuesAndSpreadsheetStudies

Also make sure the Number of Rows setting is high enough:

Here is the chart with a couple of the dates in question 2012-6-29 and 2012-07-06.
The initial balance lines are included.

And here is the accompanying spreadsheet with the missing data fields.

The number of rows is high enough.

Thanks

Sorry, didn't realize you wanted the same procedure for the spreadsheet also.
The previous method did not let me save chart, so I had to upload entire desktop.

We understand what you are doing now. Apparently you are using the Study/Price Overlay study:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/StudyPriceOverlayStudy.php

We do not see a match with the dates between the two images you provided. They are for different periods of time.

Anyway, check the Input settings for that study. Review the documentation for them.

Sorry again, I can't believe I didn't match the chart and data up.

And yes, I am using study/price overlay. I explained this in my original question, but upon re-reading I guess I didn't really make it clear.

I have followed all the directions in the documentation and still no change.

I am attaching the chart again to match the spreadsheet data.

It really is impossible from our limited perspective to know what the issue is.

There is a lot of complexity to analyze this in general.

The simple solution is to set this Input to Yes:
Study/Price Overlay Study: Fill Blanks with Last Value

But you really need to read through the descriptions of the other Inputs and fully understand how the data matching is done to understand what is happening.

Thanks,

Yes, filling blanks with the last value would indeed remove the blanks. But this drastically alters and in fact makes my statistical analysis of the product inaccurate.
I guess I should just ignore the missing data in my calculations going forward.

Apparently what is happening is that there is a single chart bar in the source chart which is matching to two daily bars in the destination chart and only one source bar can match per destination bar and any other matching destination bars/columns will just be left blank.

This should be resolvable with the different Inputs which affect matching.
