I am having a hard time resolving the above issue despite the fact that it has been well documented.

Here are 3 lines of the error message:

HD Request # 11 - Requesting 10000 Seconds of data at 5 secs with ending Date-Time at 2013-06-17 22:38:10 for GC-201312-NYMEX | 2013-07-31 02:10:44
Message from IB: Historical Market Data Service error message:Historical data request pacing violation. IB Error Code: 162. Request ID: 38. | 2013-07-31 02:10:44
HD Request # 11 - IB Backfill - Seconds requested: 10000. Seconds Remaining: 3722145. | 2013-07-31 02:10:44

I have linked futures symbol charts and when I tried to delete some data and reload it, Sierra would skip randomly weeks, days, hours, minutes, etc. The ONLY solution is to watch it - hit Ctrl+F11 when there is a gap - then delete those after the gap - and then reload - and then if a whole series of the above error message shows up - I have to then close Sierra AND Interactive Broker's TWS and restart both application and then re-login ........................ and the process repeats until I get to the data for today.

Totally tedious when I have to deal with multiple futures months and have no chance to get it right unless I am connected to the IB from the moment a new futures contract starts trading (which means I have to like load a whole year of data with the above method).

Am I missing something or is this an ongoing issue still?

This is documented here:

Our recommendation is to use another trading service other than Interactive Brokers or live with the problem until we offer our own CME data feed which will be integrated with trading services like Interactive Brokers so you can still trade there and use our own data feed. The upcoming Sierra Chart CME data feed will not have this kind of problem at all.

Oh good. I thought I missed something.

Firstly, thank you for a quick reply at odd hours.

A follow up question: when is the earliest we can get CME data feed - I subscribe to the full Package 5? I guess the CME data feed would include the NYMEX Gold Futures and NYBOT Bond Futures?

We hope that this will be ready in 3 months, but still it is uncertain at this time.

It will include all of the CME futures. The price will be probably something like 80 USD per month and that will include package 5 and the data feed. There will also be a less expensive package that will include the data feed and package 3.

Thank you.

One more question - In the section of Data/Trade Service Settings >> More Interactive Broker Settings >> Delay Between Historical Data Requests (milliseconds) - what is the value you recommend / default?

This depends upon how many days of data is being downloaded. We would recommend probably 3000. However, it may need to be significantly higher.

I do "sense" that it seems to be better with a larger number. Had 1000 for the longest time. Tried as high as 30000 last night. Now using 5000.
