Hi
Is there a study that can dynamically draw a horizontal line at 50% of the days range, taken from a fixed time starting point, like 12 midnight?
By dynamic, meaning this line would change and continue to reflect the 50%, as the new/current prices get added

Yes this can be done by using the Daily OHLC study. It is thoroughly documented here:

Hi
Is there a way to have the range calculation begin at midnight, I assume it starts when session begins as configured in charts dialog

Yes of course. This is what the documentation makes very clear:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/TechnicalStudiesReference.html#s137

Read the documentation before you make a posting here. If you simply change the chart Session Times you will notice an immediate effect with the Daily OHLC study.

Sorry, for the misunderstanding. I wish to have the range start at midnight, and leave the session time remain set as is, not midnight

Getting back to the Daily OHLC study
I had this working at one point, and now its not
The high and low are being drawn without the incremental changes, with 2 horizontal lines
i wish the lines to be dynamic, as they change throughout the day

is it that i just need to redraw, or recalculate, as i had put the study on much later in the day, and not from the session start.

In the section we linked to in post #8, this is the subsection name:
Displaying the High and Low Lines Incrementally for Day

This is too vague of a statement for us to understand:

Different subject, whas is the study that shows the opening bar pls

1. yes in the attached daily.jpg, the Graph High Low Historically study Input is Yes.

The Reference Days Back study Input is set to 0

2 Sorry, should have added some details, the sudy im looking for would show 2 horizontal line extensions (towards the right side of the chart) that begin at the high and low of the session's first bar

1. sorry youre right there was a 2nd similarly named setting
2. High/Low for Time Period-Extended is looking good
just was wondering if there is a way to unlink separate days

b is when only one day is shown by itself, and a is when two days are shown
is the a way to remove the "ramp" from one day to the other?

You just need to change the Draw Style to something like Dash:

Hi
I'm having problem only on my Crude chart, my gold and es charts i'm not seeing following problem

I have price/overlay study on a 3 minute pointing to green range and blue ohlc studies on a 5 minute chart
Instead of transparent fill top and bottom, the fill looks like vertical bars, and the ohlc solid line is also broken up similarly
as in snap

when i change the 3 bar period chart to 5, its appears ok, and in fact any period over 5 is ok, and any number under 5 is broken up
this is not happening on the other ES and gold charts, (with their links to price overlays)

This makes complete sense because there are a fewer number of bars matching from the source chart to the destination chart.

I don't understand, as its working for any time period with four other contract pairs, just the crude is causing issues.

Here
http://www.screencast.com/t/y14kqGiT
First is the GCLF7 (Crude) issue with periods above and below 5 minutes

Gold is then seen working fine with periods above and below 5 minutes,
Interesting that when the period is lower than 5, Gold, GGCG7, takes a couple seconds for "calculating studies", shows the same vertical bars as crude does, but only momentarily, and then fills out the range.

On the ES chart, it just works with any period, without the momentary "calculating studies".

would it help if the chartbook was sent to SC support?

Set this Input with the study to Yes:
Study/Price Overlay Study: Fill Blanks with Last Value

Not sure if that is what you are looking for, but that is all we can recommend for something like this when there are fewer corresponding bars in the source chart compared to the destination chart

Is it possible to place a chart trade/ATM order that is conditional on spreadsheet study?

Hi,
I see the link given was for spreadsheet studies in general, and I need to be more specific, or perhaps i just missed the info in the docs.

I see how exits can be implemented by attached orders
"It is not necessary to use the Buy Exit or Sell Exit Order Action formula cells in the Spreadsheet System for Trading study to exit a Position......."

What i'd like to do is this, an entry, manually placed, but automatically executed:

1. Place an attached-order, from chart trade, at a price.
2. Link a spreadsheet study that will enable the chart trade order, if it meets the study's conditions
3. When price is met, and study conditions are met, enter the trade automatically
4. Exit the trade using attached-order specs (which looks like can be done from quote above)

Also acceptable is setting the price somewhere else besides chart-trade, but that is preferred

Yes this can be done by using the Spreadsheet System for Trading study. We recommend going through the step-by-step instructions for this to get an understanding of how it works.

Just so I'm clear,is number 1 above possible with this study or only setting Price somewhere else?

No. You cannot manually put an order that is in a held state and have it triggered by the Spreadsheet Trading study.

The Spreadsheet Trading study is going to have to submit the order completely.
