I have a trial subscription which started few days ago. I downloaded historical continuous data for soybeans, and soybean oil. However, when I started to download soybean meal it downloaded 2001 to 2005. Since then I been getting download error. I tried changing to port 80; tried turning off the firewall, deleting and download, but nothing has worked. What else can I try, or has Sierrachart blocked the downloads.

Possibly you encountered the historical daily data download limit for the day because you are on a trial account.

OK, Historical Daily data requests per day based on service package are as follows. Trial accounts: 200, Package 3: 800, Package 5: 2000.

What does 200 mean?

Is it possible to subscribe just to the EOD historical data, and how for back would that data go for commodities?

Thanks

200 means 200 data requests a day. A single Continuous Futures Contract chart will make many data requests initially.

For historical data you will need to use Sierra Chart service package 3 which includes this service:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartHistoricalData.php

The futures historical daily data goes back 15 years if you are using Sierra Chart service package 5. How far back do you require?

More data is available if you use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed:

Ideally 20 years of commodity data would be very good. I am about to finish a book on commodities titled Smart Trader (trading below the cost of production), so need charts that go back to show historical prices. I have access to data going back to about 2001, similar to your package 3. If I use Sierra Chart in my book, then proper credit will be given.

"More data is available if you use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php".
Does this service come without having to subscribe to exchanges. I have access to real time data through NinjaTrader, so I only need historical prices, but would like to have, if possible, 20 years of data.

How much does this service cost? I have been looking allover in your website to find prices. It would be a nice service to have all prices on one page.

To get data further back in time you need to use the Continuous Futures Contract feature which is documented here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ContinuousFuturesContractCharts.html

If you are writing a book and will be giving credit to Sierra Chart, we can give you free usage time for period of time.

And then you can subscribe to the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed to get the 20 years or more of data. You will only need to do that temporarily.

We just need to prepare some documentation for this.

We extended your account by 60 days. However, can you please provide us your website address so we can confirm the link when that is done.

Also here is the set up instructions we mentioned:

I got data for gold back to 1995, and corn 1998, which is very helpfull. As I am updating the book I wrote in 1999, I am realizing it may be a good idea to go even further back in data and connect the old chart with the new ones, see the attached old chart from the book. Does Sierra Chart data go back even further?

You can definitely get data back to 1980 and earlier for gold and corn. We just tested those now.

You just need to activate the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed on your account. After that increase the Chart >>Chart Settings >>Days to Load in the chart.

If there is any missing data just re-download the data following the instructions here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ContinuousFuturesContractCharts.html#ReDownloading

We also realize there are a couple of small changes we need to make in the software to support these very long term Continuous Futures Contract charts. We are doing this now and we will have a new release out by tomorrow.

Once again here is the documentation for the Continuous Futures Contract feature:
