I am trying to link up to IB with Sierra Charts and I keep getting numerous error messages. One message is "failed to connect to the Data and Trade Server". The other is "error connecting to Data or Trading Service". Is "Data and Trade Service" and "Data and Trade Server" referring to Sierra Charts or Interactive brokers? many Thanks.

Please see Message Log below. I am having trouble connecting to Interactive Brokers. I have already spoke with the IB tech guy and he has run checks on his side of the linkup and he says that the problem is on the Sierra Charts side. I already have the Server set to 7496 in Sierra Charts. In IB I go to File>Application Settings>Global Configuration>API>Settings and set the Server to 7496. I already have Server set to 7496 in both Sierra Charts and IB. Per my previous email, I have spoken with the IB tech and he ran tests on my TWS installation and everything is working properly, that is why he told me that the problem has to be on the Sierra Charts side. Please advise.

"Localhost 7496" works and now I am getting 2 messages on my screen - "Symbol Is Unknown" and "Download Failed". I have followed the guidelines for IB symbol names - i.e., USD.JNY-CASH-IDEALPRO. You cannot use the six letter Forex symbols with Interactive Brokers for trading. You need to use the symbols in File >> Find Symbol >> IB Forex. So I go to File >> Find Symbol>>IB Forex, but before that, don't I have to go to Data/Trade Service Settings and set the service to Interactive Brokers? Does this mean that I now need to also re-create my charts all over again to IB charts or can I copy them to the IB Forex accepted file names? Again, many thanks for all your help. Eventually, I will get there.

Based on the most recent Message Log you have posted, Sierra Chart is already set to use Interactive Brokers. So there is nothing more you need to do with that.
