This symbol requires the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed which your account does not have activated.

I was getting the feed for $SPX up until yesterday - how was that working then?

It should not have been. And we do not know the answer to the question. The only reasonable explanation is that the data was coming from the CQG data feed itself.

Or you were using the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service and you are looking at historical data only.

So please help out here - I am in a major dilemma with this issue cropping up -

The thing is I use CQG and in contacting them to add S&P & CBOE index data services for S&P cash level indices - they denied the pushing of those cash indices data and instead recommended using their own front end platform.

In wishing to continue to use Sierra as my front end - I looked up a capability where I can use multiple services of Sierra with the same login and for that 2nd copy of the instance directly use Sierra Data service instead of CQG. Of course this presumes that I will use my original and the only login credentials with Sierra for such multiple Sierra instance use.

The q now is - how can I just use and pay Sierra for S&P & CBOE index data services when I set up that 2nd instance in the Data and Trade Service Settings?

Please will really appreciate your help here.

Thanks,
AP

It depends on who is your broker. With some of them you can order the 2nd CQG login for the same live account but without exchange subscriptions. Just a username for $10 per month. First off contact your broker about that. Basically all you need is just another CQG FIX username for your existing live account. If they assign it for you, then you can connect the 2nd instance of Sierra Chart (with the same Sierra credentials) using that second CQG username and you will be receiving Sierra Chart data on this instance (if you are subscriber to SC data). The only downside is that you won't receive any CQG data on that instance. If your broker can't do that, then you have an option to choose either $3 or $15 CME bundle of CQG data (additionally to $10 login cost) for the second username and this will be working in anyway. Certainly your have to have direct Sierra account for this.

Can I not do what you just said without involving CQG using -

1. the 2nd Sierra Chart installation on the same computer?
2. Activate exchanges (CBOE & S&P) in the link below?

You can install and use multiple instances of Sierra Chart using a single Sierra Chart account. This is documented here:
Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time

- how can I just use and pay Sierra for S&P & CBOE index data services when I set up that 2nd instance in the Data and Trade Service Settings?

You have to pay 35 USD per month for the data feed and 3.25 USD per month for the indexes exchange fee.

Refer to this page:
Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed

And specifically refer to this section here:

What are the purposes for using the 2nd instance of SC?

Understood -
So, one last question here -

I am assuming that having already subscribed to service package 5 myself and paid $35; all I need to pay for is Exchange Fees - please confirm this part. In other words, signing up for package 5 is the same as and includes paying for the data feed $35 (as indicated by you) above.

My assumption is based on this table (see link below) which clearly indicates in 3rd to last line SC Real Time and is checked green under the service package 5.

Description of Service Packages and Pricing

Will appreciate this confirmation.

Thanks.

You also need to pay another 35 USD per month. The Sierra Chart service package price of 35 USD does not include the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed.

What it does include is:
SC Real-Time and Historical Forex and CFD Data Service

Just for basic $SPX real time index - another $35? That is pricey.

Yes. When you realize the very high cost of exchange connectivity, this is a bargain.
