Heh. Thanks for the info. Could be a nice tool for those trading triangles BUT of course we can draw triangles by the line tool. Takes few microseconds longer :) |

I second this request with the additional user selected option to keep all sides of the triangle equal when one side is adjusted. Same with the existing rectangle and ellipse shapes allowing for perfect squares and circles on a scaled chart. It takes quite a few steps to draw equilateral sided shapes manually and difficult to move them around when drawing them with the trendline tool. I'm attaching a chart to illustrate the usefulness of properly drawn shapes when the chart scaling is correct. These requested tools would make this process faster and more efficient with less user error (which equals better trading). Just want to add that I love SC, and find it does almost everything I have ever needed. There are great geometrical tools here and it is only a few tweaks away from perfection in my opinion, so I am not complaining at all but want to voice my support when requests like these come up. |

I am going to use this "triangle" tool for the following different formations: a) symmetrical triangles b) rising triangles c) falling triangles d) rising wedges e) falling wedges All these situations can be handled by givin just a 2 points and dragging the 3rd one while the app is updating the shape in realtime. When the mouse button is released the 3rd point should be in that point. By keeping the CTRL key down it should give me a flat line against the point which is closer (vertically) to the 3rd point and the Snap option should be in use too if set. Then of course if I compress or stretch the chart those 3 points should keep their X (bar starting time) and Y (price) values as set. This is how it works in many other applications and I am fine with it. btw. What I have found the symmetrical formations do not occur very often it is allmost every time more or less imbalanced. I agree with all of your applications which is why I said "user selected option" for a symmetrical shape. Just a button to set all sides equal on the options tab of the drawing properties and then a check box to keep the relationship between all sides the same as the shape is adjusted or something like that. There are several shapes that I would find this feature to be VERY useful. It is difficult to "eyeball" symmetry and completely unnecessary when the computer can do it perfectly for you. btw, I have found that symmetrical formations occur all the time when the chart is scaled properly. Anyway, here's to hoping Sierra decides to implement it in the future. :) |
