Hi,

Since the new TransAct version I'm having connection issues (problem connecting at first to the server)
I've checked this issues with them but they don't see any problem on their side

The problem is that I'm able to get updates on the Transact orders DOM but on the event log im getting connection errors

log attached

Thank you

You simply need to allow the TransAct bridge program access through the firewall on your system. Please refer to this section here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/TransAct.php#BridgeConnectionError

What version of Sierra Chart are you running?

this has been happening to me too

its because of the "you are connecting to a live server" window that pops up and it will hide somewhere and you cant find it until you close down sierra and then its right there on your desktop. then the second time you open it, it will pop up correctly.

I'm using the latest versions of both - 5.5.1 on TransAct and 984 on Sierra

sometimes it manages to connect but most of the time not. today for example I couldn't connect at all, only after disabling windows firewall

I've added the transact bridge to windows firewall and disabled my anti virus firewall just to make sure but it didnt help , only if I turn Off the firewall it helps.

Do I need to add/edit a rule on win firewall? (see attached)

Trade2day1 - If I enter it the second/third... time its the same - did u change anything?

thank you for ur replies guys

no i didnt change anything except i found that the message that looks like this (attachment) is actually on the desktop so i have to minimize sierra when i first start sierra to see it and i just hit ok and it connects

sounds like your problem is different though unless you arent seeing that message box and clicking ok

In response to post #5, we have researched this, and we see a solution . We have advised TransAct how to resolve this kind of problem. There should be a new release out next week which will resolve this.

Not sure if this is related, but since updating from V976 to V984 and during market hours:
a) moving the chart vertically is very sluggish, 1-3 seconds delay
b) reload and recalculate toolbar button does not always respond quickly. You have to be lucky to get it at all. It appears that SC is extremely busy doing something else.
Above does not occur when connected to data server outside market hours and disconnected from server.
Using Transact 5.5.1

1, 2. We do not see how this would be related, at least it would be unlikely. Please refer to help topic 30 here:

What we recommend that you do, is when you see this, close all your Chartbooks and then monitor the CPU usage in the Windows Task Manager to see how much of it is for market data processing. There will be some slight additional load from the market data processing in the primary thread, but really that should be under 1% at best. It should not be anything which is noticeable.

You also need to disable anti-malware software or exclude Sierra Chart and its files from monitoring to ensure that does not affect the CPU reading. This last part is very essential.

Could you update to the latest release of Sierra Chart by selecting Help >> Download Current Version. Let us know if you still have trouble connecting. The firewall problem should be solved. The TransAct bridge should be bypassing the firewall.

please see attached logs

what does "Request to bypass order placement has been received" mean?

Re prior post #8, followed suggestions your posts #9-10.
Problems persist, toolbar buttons reload & recalculate, chart period toolbar buttons fail to work or work spasmodically.
Toolbar button 'Disabling Trade Simulation Mode' works without delay.
Closing and restarting SC restores the functions.
Live orders placed and removed from SC charts indicate immediately on the Transact DOM but take 1-3 seconds to confirm on SC.
Also getting similar messages and slow connection to Transact re. post #12.
Running another instance of SC985 on the same computer (both seperately and together) with FXCM and not getting any issues, even before your suggestions re. posts #9-10.

If you do not have any charts open, many of the ToolBar buttons will be disabled.

When you are noticing a problem what is the CPU usage of Sierra Chart? And how many CPU cores do you have.

You also want to look at the CPU usage of the TransActBridge program.

In general, we believe this is a problem outside of Sierra Chart and there's something on your system creating this issue. If you are running a firewall software other than the Windows firewall, our recommendation is to uninstall it for now.

Using a quad core system.
CPU with no chartbooks 0-2%
CPU with chartbooks 1-30%
Reduced the number of chartbooks open and SC running OK, including placing/removing live orders.
I suspect insufficient computer memory (2GB) causing the problems.

If you are still receiving error code 10061 when connecting to TransAct, then this is going to be due to a firewall on your system.

If you are running any firewall program other than the Windows firewall, we recommend uninstalling it. In our experiencing disabling them sometimes does not help and they will still block the connection. This is why they need to be uninstalled.

In the latest version the Windows firewall should not be blocking the connection.

Thoroughly check your system to make sure there are no other firewalls on there. Make sure you not using like a McAfee your Norton firewall. There must be some other firewall on the system you are not aware of.

If you still have trouble connecting, we definitely believe it is due to firewall.

However, as an alternative you can go back to version 976:
http://www.sierrachart.com/downloads/976SierraChartSetup.exe

Make sure you install it into the proper folder. In Sierra Chart, select Window >> Show/Hide Message Log. At the top of the log you will see a line that says Program Path. That is the folder you need to install it into.
