Sierra Chart Lag Issues

I've been using Sierra for several months now, and in the past, I never had this problem.

Recently however (for the past week or two), everything that my computer loads is extremely slow. When a commodity moves very quickly, up or down, sierra takes 5-10 seconds to unfreeze and load the image. This is completely ludcris!

I've tried turned off all other running applications. & reducing the number of charts available to 1.
Sierra STILL lags! & when it lags, which is constantly, it takes serveral seconds to notice what is going on!
All I see is a still frame every 5 seconds and the price 5 seconds later, whether that be 1 tick or 20 ticks lower or higher.
(This lag CANNOT be mistaken for fast market action).

What am I supposed to do?!?! Uninstall reinstall? If I reset to a previous version will that fix it? Won't I lose all my charts in either case? I am at a total loss, & I feel quite helpless. I put so much effort and work into making sierra chart my platform, and now it doesn't work? This can't continue, please, will someone help me get this resolved completely?

go to your start menu and search "adjust visual" and click on adjust the appearance and performance of windows

then a box pops up with lots of checked items, click at the top adjust for best performance then click apply and ok

then go to start menu and search disk cleanup and select the disk sierra is installed to and check everything that is taking up lots of space then click ok

then make sure your power options are set to high performance

So to confirm, all application on your computer are slow not just Sierra Chart?

There definitely is a solution to this. This is not normal.

Could you please refer to help topic 30 here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/helpdetails30.html

And also specifically refer to 30.8:

Just Sierra Chart is slow. I've turned off my antivirus altogether, with no luck. Right now I've got my av settings at low and I've made an exception for the entire Sierra Chart folder. I've obviously got an exception in my Firewall, and this leaves me with no idea as to how to fix this lag. The only other running applications are other platforms, and there are almost no other applications. I keep this computer very clean.

I've reduced the number of charts down to 1 lately, but in the past it was able to run at least 10 at once, with ease. I don't need a new pc I have a hexacore proccessing unit with 10 gigs of ddr3 ram and a watercooled mobo. Everything should be running fine, but it's still lagging. Especially during periods of fast market movement.

Can you help?

100;

How are you measuring the lag? Do you have a another data feed for comparison ?

Perhaps you have a issue with your ISP ?

I myself was getting lagging in Asia whereas it's fine in Europe.

Latency can really mess with any TCP based data feed.

Also you don't who say your broker / data provider is (?)...

Lastly; You must check your chart update interval... it's not 5000ms (5 seconds) is it ?

This is very unusual. We see that you are using Rithmic. We are working on a new release which should be out by the end of the day which isolates the Rithmic software into another process. If it is the Rithmic software causing a problem, this will resolve the issue.

The only other thing we can think of, is some problem with the Filesystem I/O usually caused by anti-malware software.

What anti-malware/antivirus software are you running? Those programs, can be very very troublesome and cause lots of problems that cannot be completely removed unless you completely uninstall the anti-malware/antivirus software. We have found the Microsoft Security Essentials is fine.

Yes I am using TS data as well. & TS runs smoothly, even with 8 X 30 charts open all with their own indicators ticking away.

But when I say lag, I do not mean the data is flowing a few seconds behind TS data. I mean the SC platform freezes during the most critical moments and will not display any new price movements. In fact I can't even place a bet, let alone see what is happening live.

Currently I am running BitDefender Total Protection.

I uninstalled Bitdefender. It runs smoothly. Can your reccommend a good firewall that does not inhibit SC in any way? I still want a goof FW for my paranoid ass :)

AVG free doesn't do anything to it, that's what I use. Also with windows defender and Microsoft essentials, no lags.

Nod32 is an antivirus, I believe, not a Firewall.

Are there any admins who could reccommend a firewall for SierraChart?

"A good method of security is to use a hardware firewall which routers have, use the built-in Windows firewall, and use basic security software like Microsoft security essentials. And have Microsoft security essentials exclude scanning Sierra Chart and its files." -- This is what support has previously recommended recently

Trial Period and SC stays frozen
