Feature req. Pause on alert

Hi, I would like to suggest a feature that i would find very useful. When i replay data, i would very much like to have the software to automatically pause the replay on an alert. in short, if i set an alert on a line on a chart, when it's triggered and the alert goes off the replay go to pause. I wonder if anyone else would appreciate such feature? Carol |

This is always possible, but it is features like these really which we are hesitant to add because they can cause unexpected behavior if you forget about the fact that you have a Simple Alert which causes a pause. Or you share a Study Collection which has a Simple Alert which has a pause setting.

Found this thread as I was about to suggest the same feature. If your concern about unexpected behavior is that people will simply forget about the setting, how about adding another check box to the replay control ("Allow alerts to pause replay"), and have it unchecked by default? Please consider how useful this feature would be before you discard the idea. For the user it is the difference between staring at the chart, wasting a lot of time while waiting for a buy/sell signal (alert) at a slow replay speed vs. just "skipping ahead" to the next signal. You can literally spend days watching replays and not get more done than you would have in just a few hours with the ability to pause on alerts. Thor |

This will have to be considered later. Also, alerts are logged in Window >> Show/Hide Alerts Log. We could add the capability that when you double-click on the Alert Message, the chart scrolls to the time in the chart where the alert condition became true. Skip to next/previous alert would be extremely useful. Then you could also create an alert on bar close (I've never done this, but I am assuming this is possible?), so then you could also immediately skip to the next/previous bar. Then you can just pause, skip, play, pause, skip, play, etc.

You can set it to evaluate on bar close only (or once per bar). If you are using tick bars and want to skip forward one bar then I suppose "pause on alert" could be a workaround for that. I'm pretty sure this situation, where study collection can "fight" in bedded features, can happen in a number of features in the software. This pause feature would be such a time saver for me, I would't have to sit in front mind numbing data waiting for the right setup. I guess if enough people show interest in this feature, you guys will find a solution to the situation. Carol |

In the latest version we added: When using the Go to Chart button on a selected study alert line in the Alerts Log, the chart will now scroll to the Date-Time in the chart to where the Alert Condition became true.
So you can run a high-speed replay, and then after look at the Alerts Log and then jump to each point in the chart where an Alert Condition became true.
