I have "Continuous Futures Contract - Date Rule Rollover". Without or with "Back Adjusted", non recent
months of futures are often very sparse. With "FS" I can "Open Historical Chart" in prior contract, but in
OHLC bars, not my preferred chart settings of candles with nested Keltner channels.

If I open my preferred chartbook, then load prior contract, I immediately see overlay of
"Symbol needs Rollover. Click to Rollover", which fades after minutes. I could disable auto rollover.

How might I actually see "Continuous Futures Contract" with my choice of candles and indicators?

How might I roll back an open chart to a prior contract?

With Forex, moving time span back and forth is simple.

Another thing to do in a case like this is to re-download the data following the instructions here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ContinuousFuturesContractCharts.html#ReDownloading

If that does not help, post an image of the chart so we can see it:

One example of many: EUU14 EUZ14
Do you want the images?

With EUZ14 open in my chosen chartbook, FS lets me find EUU14 but NOT open in same chartbook, only in the OHLC historical or intra.
I got the chart I wanted by opening a temporary tmp.symbolList. Too Klutzy.

I uploaded 3 images, but got an error msg. Here's a retry.

I just want to move time frame back and forth, same as for continuous Forex.

Rollover settings have been set up for the ICE EU?## futures contract as well as all the other ICE Forex contracts. Update the symbol settings as explained here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_GlobalSymbolSettings.php#UpdateSettings

After that go to the chart and select Chart >> Reload and Recalculate.

FS lets me find EUU14 but NOT open in same chartbook,
This is not making sense. You just simply open a chart through File >> Find Symbol and it will be in the active Chartbook.

The 3 images (EUZ14 Keltner.png, EUU14-OHLC.png, EUU14 Keltner.png) show that "You just simply open a chart through File >> Find Symbol and it will be in the active Chartbook. " does not work for me, as confirmed by new image AntiChartBook.png.
Otherwise I would not have raised this issue. I am missing a key option of SC.
====
Can your directions ending with "After that go to the chart and select Chart >> Reload and Recalculate." be
automated? The resulting chart does look like what I wanted.

Sorry for the two images, which I tried to "replace", not "add". The latter is to keep.
How does one delete first?

We are not fully understanding post #7. We see that you have opened a chart for EUU14.

If you open a chart for EUZ14 and set it be a Continuous Futures Contract chart, it seems like that will do what you want. Here are instructions for the Continuous Futures Contract feature:

Perhaps we should separate <"You just simply open a chart through File >> Find Symbol and it will be in the active Chartbook. " does not work for me, as confirmed by new image AntiChartBook.png.> from <making continuous charts work>.

Fact: When I open a symbol from FS, it appears as barchart regardless of what chartbook I have open.
It has always been that way for me. If it worked as you describe, I would have a work-around my "continuous" problem.

Those initial three images document this as fact. You can't help me if you deny my observations.

Unless I change my mind for some reason, I want all new charts as candlestick
WITH my customized Keltner channels. I believe that is what is meant by opening
new FS symbol selection in current chartbook. (Such would let me create
"continuous charts" manually.)

If there are default settings to achieve such, I did not find them. Sorry.

You can set the Graph Draw Type to be Candlestick by default and also automatically apply a study collection to new charts. Refer to this page here:

Progress :: Candles + Keltner
1. I now have Keltner 11 & 31.StdyCollct, saved and selected in
general settings > "Use default study collection for new charts"
and I defaulted to candles as type in
chart>chart settings > "Save days to load, intraday bar period, graph draw type as default".
So I can approximate "continuous" by selecting symbols in sequence.
Thank you.

2. Can I suppress that overlay of "Symbol needs Rollover. Click to Rollover"?
It distracts and wastes time. Still appears with "Continuous Contract none" as well as
"Continuous Futures Contract - Date Rule Rollover, Back Adjusted."

3. By the way, ctrl-F4 "close chart" and ctrl-F6 "next chart" don't work.

I have "Global Settings >> General Settings >> Support Symbol Entry from Chart Window"

On chart EUU14, typing EUZ14 and <enter> forwards the chart to EUZ14.
On EUZ14, entering EUU14 does nothing. In other words, roll forward but no roll back.
How might I roll any [futures] chart in either direction?

I don't yet fully have what I would call "continuous chart".

No.

Yes, we see that. This is an area of the program that is controlled by the operating system so we cannot remove those shortcut keys from the menu commands.

Refer to the documentation here to change the symbol of the chart:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_SwitchingSymbols.html#QChangingToExistingSymbol

We see no problem with the Continuous Futures Contract for EUZ14
http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1416356972707.png

You may need to re-download the data following the instructions here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ContinuousFuturesContractCharts.html#ReDownloading

Also be aware that this is an ICE futures contract. You might be interested in the CME one. The CME one begins with E6

I greatly admire your version. So why do I only get the one I posted above in #5?
[realize this symbol is just an arbitrary example]

Can you take the time to step me thru your methodology, including screen captures?
That would help me tremendously. I could then clone your approach.
I am spread thin on your web docs, and close to giving up.

Make sure the Global Symbol Settings are up to date by following the instructions here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_GlobalSymbolSettings.php#UpdateSettings

And update Sierra Chart by selecting Help >> Download Current Version. We do not think there is any problem with the version you have but it is good idea to be up-to-date anyway.

After the update, re-download the data following the instructions here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ContinuousFuturesContractCharts.html#ReDownloading

We are confident if you follow those steps given, the chart should look correct.

And go to that chart and enable Chart >> Show Rollover Dates.

Now to practice on other symbols.

I see that the need to "edit>re-download data" can sneak into symbols on my current QB-list.
Why? Seems a bit more stability/reliability would be useful. I'd rather focus on my analyses than fixing data.
I do not recall similar problems on Forex or US stocks for scanning time spans.
Is there a set of operations that I could run preventively, perhaps periodically?

[By the way, a chart can degrade as I watch. Sometimes re-download only partially restores.]

I see that the need to "edit>re-download data" can sneak into symbols on my current QB-list.
This does not make any sense. Re-downloading data in a chart is not going to affect a Quote Board. This is totally impossible.

[By the way, a chart can degrade as I watch. Sometimes re-download only partially restores.]
This also does not make any sense to us. And also once you have re-download the data there definitely should not be a need to do that again.

We need to see an image of what you see:
Provide an image of the chart, by following these instructions:
