Hello, I am playing with alert formulas but nothing is working. Hoping someone can chime in.
I would like to get an alert when price crosses above 80 and below 20 on a oscilator I have.

I have tried

=OR (CROSSFROMABOVE > 20(C, ID9.SG1), CROSSFROMBELOW > 80(C, ID9.SG1))

and

=AND(ID9.SG1 > 80, ID9.SG1 < 20)

Both do not work. Anyone who can help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Price is not going to cross 80 and 20, as what you are looking at are not the prices. We assume you are meaning your oscillator is crossing above it's 80% and 20% lines.

But, if you are talking about a single indicator, then it can not be both above 80 and below 20 at the same time. Are you using two different studies?

We wonder what exactly you are trying to do. Please give us more information on what you have setup and what you are wanting to do.

Some notes on your formulas:
1. Your formulas for "CROSSFROMABOVE" and "CROSSFROMBELOW" are not formatted properly. Refer to the following for how to setup those formulas:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SpreadsheetFunctions.html#CROSSFROMABOVE_Function

2. Your second formula gets closer to what would work, but here is where we do not understand what exactly you are doing, as you reference the same subgraph (ID9.SG1) to be both above and below 20 at the same time.

Yeah, I guess I didn't explain that well.

The indicator is ID:9 in my study list, (MFI), I'm just looking for a simple alert for when the oscilator crosses above the 80 value, or crosses below 20.

Thanks for the reply
