Hello, I am using the "TPO Value Area Lines" study and encountering an issue with the starting point of the lines when restricting display to the latest period. Issue: When "One Period Only at End of Chart" (In:11) is set to "Yes", the developing Value Area and POC lines do not start at the beginning of the current trading session (09:30 RTH open). Instead, the lines begin far back in the middle of the previous trading day (around 12:55 of the prior day). Expected Behavior: The lines should begin calculating and drawing strictly from the start of the current period/session (09:30) through to the end of the chart. Current Settings: - Time Period Type (In:3): Days - Time Period Length (In:4): 1 - One Period Only at End of Chart (In:11): Yes - Base on Day Session Only (In:15): No I have attached a screenshot displaying both the study settings and the chart behavior. Could you please advise if a specific setting adjustment is required or how to ensure the lines anchor strictly to the start of the current session? Thank you. |

You have the Input for "Base on Day Session Only" set to "No". Therefore, the study is going to start the calculation at the start of the Evening Session as defined by your Session Times. Based on that image, it looks like your Session Times are not set properly. Refer to the following: Chart Session Times And if you only want the Value Area Lines to calculate for the RTH, then you need set the Input for "Base on Day Session Only" to "Yes". Hi John,
Thank you very much for the quick response. Unfortunately, even after setting "Base on Day Session Only" to "Yes", the issue persists. The lines are still starting from the middle of the previous trading day instead of anchoring to the start of the current session (09:30). Could you please open a chart on your end using standard RTH session times, apply the "TPO Value Area Lines" study, and set "One Period Only at End of Chart" to "Yes"? Please check if the lines start correctly at 09:30 on your screen, or if they anchor to the middle of the previous day as they do on mine. This would help determine if this is a software bug or a specific configuration issue on my end (such as Chart Session Times - F5). Thank you! Date Time Of Last Edit: 2026-08-06 06:59:13

The TPO Value Area Lines study works properly for us. Check your Session Times. It sounds like these are not set correctly. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

We do not see a reason for you to be having this issue with those settings. When you set the Input for "One Period Only at End of Chart", this changes the nature of how the time is calculated, such that the lines are calculated for a rolling period, rather than relative to the Session Times. Refer to the information for this Input in the following section: TPO Value Area Lines: Inputs Since you want your lines to only be present for the RTH session, you need to set "One Period Only at End of Chart" to "No". The downside of this is that you will then have lines drawn for all the days in your chart and not just for the current day. A few ways to work around this: - Use a separate chart that has just a single day loaded in it and put the "TPO Value Area Lines" study in that chart. Then use the "Study/Price Overlay" to overlay that information to the chart with multiple days. - Set the "TPO Value Area Lines" study on the chart as you have been, but set it to be "Hidden". Then use the "Spreadsheet Study" to control where the lines are actually displayed. For instance, to get the "TPO POC" line drawn for the current day, you would enter the following formula in cell K3: ==IF(INT(A3) = TODAY(), ID1.SG1@3, 0) Where ID1 is the ID of the TPO Value Area Lines study, SG1 is the TPO POC subgraph of the TPO Value Area Lines Study and @3 means to use the data from the 3rd row.
