Why does it seem like the Equity SCID files seem to take up so much more size vs the Futures SCID files?

First, equities can have 10x or more trading for the same time period over futures. Second, the data for equities is kept within a single file on Sierra Chart for however far back you have the data for that equity. Since futures have contracts, the data is spread across multiple files. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

So, is there anything else in managing their file sizes- other than limiting the days to load?

You can change the "Intraday Storage Time Unit" to something other than "1 Tick" in order to have the data consolidated at a higher time frame, but that may not be what you want. Refer to the following: Data/Trade Service Settings: Intraday Data Storage Time Unit (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Common Settings) Also, it is not the "Days to Load" that affects the size of the files. That only controls how much data is loaded in a chart. You would want to set the "Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Load" to the value you would want for most of your symbols to initially download data for. Refer to the following: Data/Trade Service Settings: Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings) You can then force a download of additional data for a chart, if you need it, by changing the "Date Range in File From". Refer to the following: Historical Intraday Data (Missing Data / Download Errors / Viewing More Data): Using 'Date Range in File >> From' to Download More Historical Data And finally, there is a tool that will consolidate data into a larger time frame for older data. Refer to the following: Intraday Data File Management For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
