Hello, I am having an issue involving Sierra Chart's Spreadsheet Trading study calculating theoretical signals based on formula logic, regardless of whether orders are sent to the market. Because I have formulas inside the spreadsheet designed to halt trading after "X" number losses, the over-counting is causing signals to prematurely not fire as a result. Please advise as to if there is a setting that needs to be modified so that actual wins/losses are counted as opposed to formulaic trades that were never actually filled. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Darius |

The "Spreadsheet System for Trading" has an information item named "Total Trades" that gives you the total number of submitted trades for the symbol of the chart on which that Spreadsheet System is applied. You should be able to use this to get what you want. There are also fields for "Winning Trades" and "Losing Trades". Refer to the following: Spreadsheet Systems, Alerts and Automated Trading: Total Trades (read-only) [v1:J35, v2:J56] For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

This does not address the issue at hand: the trade count reflected on the spreadsheet does not reflect the actual trades placed.

In what way is it not reflecting the correct information?

The win/loss count does not reflect actual trades placed, from flat to flat when trading live or prop firm account. I'm not certain why this setting would not reflect trades as it should. It seems to be such a simple thing to do without having to resort to trying to figure it out.

We can tell you that the "Total Trades" field in the Spreadsheet is NOT "Flat to Flat Trades" - it takes into account each individual action - so if you open a position and then add to it two times and then flatten, that will be a total of 3 trades. If this is what you are seeing, then it is working properly for that situation. Otherwise, for us to look into it, we would need to know what you are doing that is not being reflected properly in that field. The entry and exit would not entail adding or partial exits, just a simple entry and exit at TP. Yet, when I review the number of trades, it would not equal 1 win; it reflect 2 or 3. Again, when in full simulation, it tallies correctly. But it does this weird mis-count when not in full SIM mode. I hope to be able to figure this out as I'm looking to discontinue the autotrade bot after X number of losses and/or total trades have been reached. Thanks for your assistance. |

We are not able to reproduce any particular issue with this. The one thing we do want to point out is that the Number of Trades that are listed in the Spreadsheet is pulled from the information for order fills from the chart. Depending on how you have your order fills setup for the chart/symbol, you may not be starting at zero. For instance, if you are not limiting the order fills for the chart that the Spreadsheet System for Trading is on, then the number of trades shown in the Spreadsheet will be all the order for that chart going back as far as you have orders in that chart. So, you may want to set the "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Trading" options that control the fills for the chart so that you are starting at zero each day. Refer to the following and the 2 items below it: Chart Settings: Order Fills Start Date-Time (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Trading menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
