updated to latest version and the combined pull stack column is using ABS values for the volume bars? This was never the case prior and is fundamental to my trading last 6 years. is this an error or new feature?...I dont like it

There are updates still being worked on relative to the Volume Bars for the Pulling/Stacking. Look for these updates in the next Pre-Release (v 2914).

Hello,

I’m currently on v2913. After update will we be able to have negative P/S volume bars not affect the scale width of positive value P/S volume bars on combined pulling/stacking?

In my view, as it was prior, a pulled -1000 volume bar shouldn’t have a greater width than a stacked 600 volume bar.

Thank you!

Today’s volatility is a great example why using absolute values to determine volume bar width, regardless of color, for pulling/stacking column doesn’t work well live.

I believe most traders would agree a negative/pulled value shouldn’t have a volume bar at all. It’s more intuitive that way and quicker to understand at a glance.

Hope we have the option to keep it the way it used to be.

There is a simple workaround - set negative volume bar to same color as P/S column background color.

That doesn’t resolve the volume bar width issue. A pulled/negative value on a given level shouldn’t have a volume bar and certainly shouldn’t influence the width/scale of the rest of the bars at price levels with positive values.

I would like Sierra Engineering to clarify why beginning with 2913 ABS values are now calculated in the Pull Stack Volume bars? this was never the case prior to that update, and disrupts the visual flow of the entire tool. Where negative bars (pulling) have the identical VB visual impact as positive (stacking).

Why are we being forced to re-interpet the usage of this critical scalping tool? Please explain....

you added additional coloring functionality to the volume bars to compensate for this new design that really is unnecessary, as the actual values have coloring capability, the pattern ingrained is the SHAPE of the column, not coloring.

To be clear I am asking for reversion to previous form, and if unable please explain reasoning...why fix unbroken tools?

Agreed.

This issue came up once before after an update last year and SC Engineering acknowledged it was wrong and fixed it: pull/stack volume bars broken

I’m confident SC will fix it again. By default this tool should not have a Volume Bar for negative/pulled values…any other configuration should be secondary options in my opinion.

@ChrisK

Do not get too confident please...I love to see "negative" bars
Visual perception is key in this case for me
I do not even pay attention on numbers at levels-only on those bars that are in my case in light grey
Of course I wouldn't mind at all to have that option as a second choice
Do not take this in a wrong way but my choice is clear-bars work for me

All the best

I’m always confident the SC team listens and works out solutions for their clients when they give productive feedback.

What User993067 and I are saying is we’d like to see the original form and function of Pulling/Stacking Volume Bars made available to us. Doesn’t have to be either or, but from our point of view this new function isn’t as intuitive.

@ChrisK and @User993067 both making a great point here sierra chart team. The pulling of the orders shouldn’t be more important than the stacking. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

We apologize for the delay on this. This is now all fully resolved.

We will have a new release out today. Although if you update to the latest version 2920 you are not going to see pulling and stacking volume bars for negative values. There is one other minor change that was needed to ensure that the negative values do not contribute towards the maximum values.

You can enable negative volume bars with these settings:
Graphics Settings - Colors >> Chart/TradeDOM >> Chart DOM Bid Market Depth Pulling/Stacking Negative Volume Bar
Graphics Settings - Colors >> Chart/TradeDOM >> Chart DOM Ask Market Depth Pulling/Stacking Negative Volume Bar

With this newest "resolved" issue misalignment of volume bars and cells showed up again
Am I supposed to do some additional adjustments/setting on my side or should I wait for next update as you mentioned

Also enabling/disenabling NVB's works perfect
Thank you

Regarding misalignment of Volume Bars and cells-I just increased Trade DOM Grid to 3 from 2 and got misalignment covered
It doesn't bother me much any longer

Thank you

You can enable negative volume bars with these settings:
Graphics Settings - Colors >> Chart/TradeDOM >> Chart DOM Bid Market Depth Pulling/Stacking Negative Volume Bar
Graphics Settings - Colors >> Chart/TradeDOM >> Chart DOM Ask Market Depth Pulling/Stacking Negative Volume Bar

SC Team did great job incorporating both options for us. Thanks again to them.
