on 10/27/2014 I entered a position with 2 attached orders (1 stop, 1 target) . I modified the target down to 80.77 and then disconnected from the trade service for about 20 mins. However when I reconnected, the log files says the attached orders were cancelled with the message "cancelling due to no order update from server" and I believe my account hit the daily loss limit as a result. The log file shows the order modification was completed successfully before I disconnected so the position should have exited at 80.77 @ approx 9:45 or at 9:51. If the exit order went unfilled, then the stop should have been triggered eventually. I found in the user form a mention about that error message, which basically says its a sync issue between Sierra Chart and the trade service. But when I emailed my service with an inquiry,I got this as a response which is more puzzling: _____________________________________________________________________ We reached out to our platform specialist and he responded with this: "These lines in the log looks like it's a Sierra Chart issue with the flatten function. After ------- reconnects his platform, his log says this: 2014-10-27 10:07:34.000 Connected to server 2014-10-27 10:07:39.000 CLZ4-NYMEX Synchronized Internal Position to current Service Position. Current Position quantity: -2 The trader then tries to flatten his position: 2014-10-27 10:10:34.000 CLZ4-NYMEX CLZ4-NYMEX #3 | User order entry. Flatten&Cancel | Last: 80.769997 2189 Market 2 Sell Order Sent --------- Close -2 But why does Sierra Chart submit a SELL order for 2 contracts when the user is already short 2? This left our trader short -4 contracts. 2014-10-27 10:10:35.003 CLZ4-NYMEX Rithmic Trading order report (Order update) 2189 25733937 Market 2 Sell Filled 80.78 2 ------------ Close -2 2014-10-27 10:10:43.000 CLZ4-NYMEX Synchronized Internal Position to current Service Position. Current Position quantity: -4" _____________________________________________________ I think the posts are public by default, but send me message and I can forward the email string that contains the original log file. |

1. In the case of Rithmic there is not server-side OCO through AMP . Therefore, both the target and Stop orders will both fill if Sierra Chart is disconnected from the server. 2. The only explanation for this: 2014-10-27 10:10:34.000 CLZ4-NYMEX CLZ4-NYMEX #3 | User order entry. Flatten&Cancel | Last: 80.769997 2189 Market 2 Sell Order Sent --------- Close -2 But why does Sierra Chart submit a SELL order for 2 contracts when the user is already short 2? This left our trader short -4 contracts. Is that you are using the Order Fill Calculated Position. Being that we know what effect that has, we can actually confirm this is the case from the portions of the Trade Activity log posted. Uncheck Trade >> Use Fill Calculated Positions-Global . There is a very large warning that you are given before being allowed to enable that. Otherwise, there is no possibility of something like this occurring. It is impossible . We are going to add additional logging to indicate when the Order Fill Calculated Position is being used during a flatten or reverse operation.
