I have a 4 tick range bar chart, looking at Number bars for which I display historical Pullback/COT values, and set up on the COT. Fine. if I try to apply it to a reversal in tick chart, it displays what looks like Pullback as opposed to COT (where both number are calculated an displayed above and below the bar as opposed to COT where there is a value above or below each number bar and a ZERO at the opposite side). It does not take into account the reversal bar I initially selected and instead defaults to time based periodicity (10 Min for some reason). IF I revert to my Range in ticks, or in fact, if I revert to any other Bar period, it does not work/apply, and stays locked/stuck on 10 Min. Clearly something is causing a problem when trying to apply Historical Pullbacl/COT. |

yes except it does not revert back to prior setting, it reverts to random setting (10 mn chart), for no reason, as we go from 4 range chart to 4 reversal. Any reason other than that, for the historical COT not to work on a reversal bar chart? |

This sounds like some kind of memory corruption problem. Restart Sierra Chart and only open a single chart and do not use any studies and see if you have this problem. It is OK to use the Numbers Bars study. Also make sure the Chart >> Chart Settings >> Tick Size is set correctly. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. thank you, and what is the reason behind the fact that the COT does not show a zero on either top or below numbers bars and a number on the other side with a reversal bar chart in ticks as it does on a range bar chart in ticks?

That is going to take some time to answer. We have to study how that should work. We do not think there is any problem with this. At this point, we do not know when this question could be answered. With the amount of work we have to do and the priority of it, it is going to be a while. Make sure there is a tick by tick data configuration: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TickbyTickDataConfiguration.php Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I understand. The idea is to work out why the COT/Pullback works with a classic range chart and not with a reversal bar chart. This might not be a problem as such, but there must be a good reason why it behaves like that and it would be good to understand why. The tick by tick data configuration is on, goes without saying. |
