Help with footprint/number bars

Whenever I set up a footprint, the footprint gets really compressed and stuff, but when I zoom in it sort of look normal but off course I want it to always look normal. Maybe I'm stupid but I've tried a lot, with videos and your support board. I've attached 2 screenshots, one where it's zoomed in and the other is what I normally see. So can you help or show where I need to go to.
