Good morning, I'm having trouble placing a position. My order wants to execute at a different price than I want. Attached are examples. For example, I want to place an order at 98.53 (CL file), and the platform wants to place an order at 98.14. This doesn't happen every time. I'm using Teton, and Denali. Please help. |

How are you entering that order? Are you using the pointer on the chart? Using the Trade Window? Or something else?

I use the pointer on the chart. I always have. The problem started when I upgraded to Teton at the beginning of the year. Updating the platform didn't fix the problem. I rolled back to version 2800, and everything was fine until yesterday.

When we look at the top left of the chart we see the price is 98.14. Does that price correspond to where the pointer is? The price of 98.14 doesn't correspond to the indicator's position. The indicator's position is 98.53 (referring to the attached screenshot). I used the "reset chart scale" option – all parameters were set correctly. Today, I noticed that the price in the upper left corner jumps precisely when I right-click to select an order. I can send a screenshot. The problem persists.

Please get us a "Before" and "After" set of images. The before, where the pointer is at the price you want, and then after you right click and the price changes.

We do not see any problems. When you right-click on the chart to put an order in, make sure the mouse pointer is not moving. Maybe you need to change your input device. Try changing your pointer input device, or try another computer. We think this is a hardware level issue. Also why do you have three screenshots for before and after. And why are you showing two different right-click menus in two different screenshots? There should just be 2 screenshots with the second one showing the menu, that displays when you right-click. In image 1 (Screenshot), the price on the cross is the same as in the upper left corner. In image 2 (Screenshot) (this is at the same second, i.e., 17:51:14, as in image 1), the price in the upper left corner had already changed. Then I clicked the buy stop, and it displayed a price of 92.12, which is the price from the upper left corner, not where the cursor is. (I included three images to better illustrate the problem.) I'll replace the mouse or test it on another computer.

We apologize. The third screenshot is the confirmation not a menu. We made a mistake with what we said and misunderstood. We see that the price has already changed when you right-click. This should not happen. We are looking into why this could happen. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. We looked at this some more, and do not see any way this could be made more reliable. That is determining the price when right clicking on the chart. The price is determined, at the position of the right-click point which is provided by the operating system.

Thank you for your reply. Is there a way to disable automatic snapping to the drawn Fibo retracement? I've noticed that the problem occurs when I try to place an order near the Fibo retracement lines. I right-click near them, and the retracements become highlighted, triggering a price jump. If I do it away from the lines, there's no problem. Image 1 - Screenshot shows that the Fibo line is highlighted.

There is not a way to completely stop the system from selecting a drawing if it is close to where you are clicking. The one option that can help with this is the following: Chart Drawing Tools: Drawing Selection Margin in Pixels (Global Settings >> Tool Settings >> General >> Tool Options) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
