On version 2867 studies related to Numbers Bars (numbers bars calculated values 1/2) where shading is involved causes massive chart drawing time in milliseconds (read only) spikes of 100+ ms depending on the amount of zoom (close zoom: 100 ms increase, further zoomed out: 400+ ms increase). I can turn them off, and performance is superb. I can turn them back on and the values spike every 2-3 seconds. Could be something related to graphics.

This is a feedback for Sierra Chart Engineering on the latest release. Thanks!

We are not aware of any changes which would cause an issue. It does sound like some kind graphics related issue. Are you using OpenGL.

Yes, I'm using opengl with an amd graphics card.

The issue started occurring approximately 4-7 days ago.

I've tried both use open gl and use compatible open gl in graphics settings > other without success.

I haven't tried disabling threaded optimization yet. That's next.

Update: AMD Graphics cards don't have threaded optimization like NVDA GPUs, however, there are some suggested AMD graphics card settings that could be changed, and I did them without success.

If I add a Numbers Bars study to a single Chart, ES futures for example, there is not any spike in lag.

If I add a Numbers Bars study for a DIFFERENT symbol at the same time in a different chart for NQ for example, the lag spikes on both charts returns.

Sierra Chart Engineering,

I have found the issue with the Numbers Bars and it does seem like it relates to fonts and openGL.

The setting in the Numbers Bars: Font Size Mode (In:83) when set to "Automatic with Minimum/Maximum Limits" immediately causes the Study Settings screen to lag if the vertical scale is compressed which causes a small value in the font (maybe 4 or something like that). If the vertical scales are causing font to be a maximum (in my case 9), there isn't lag.

For now, I will set this to Same as Chart Font until this is resolved.

Edit: I'm currently using Arial font everywhere.

Thanks

We will make some improvements. However, increase this number:

glad that active member improving the efficiency, that should be done by the engineering team here!!
Finally my footprints are up to speed !!! Even engineers on Bloomberg using Anthropic for their problem solving, A route that Sierra might should look into to fix the bugs and get up to faster problem solving!

Gary, it is likely that many folks do not use the font size adjusting in the numbers bars steady, which really is the culprit as far as I can tell...

Adjusting the number of glyphs to 40 does help a bit, but there is greater improvement removing font from the numbers bars (not that much but it can matter depending on zoom).

For now, I can keep font size static or remove it all together since I have a graceful solution personally for removing the font.

Teamwork makes the dream work!
