Hello Support,

I’m having an issue with Number Bars / Volume Imbalance where only BID imbalances are displaying, and ASK imbalances are not appearing at all, even in conditions where they should clearly be present.

Context / Setup:

Chart Type: Number Bars

I am using Bid/Ask Volume Imbalance

Data feed and symbol are confirmed correct (liquid NASDAQ stocks with heavy ask-side execution)

Bid imbalances are plotting normally

Ask imbalances do not plot under any conditions

What I’ve verified already:

Ask-side imbalance thresholds are enabled and set correctly (not zeroed or filtered out)

Bid and Ask settings are symmetric (same imbalance method, same percentage / volume thresholds)

No session filters or time filters are restricting ask data

Color settings are visible (not transparent or matching background)

Chart is receiving real-time bid/ask trade data (Time & Sales confirms ask executions)

Expected behavior:

Ask imbalances should plot when ask volume exceeds bid volume by the configured imbalance ratio or volume threshold

Both bid and ask imbalances should appear independently based on execution flow

Observed behavior:

Only bid imbalances display

Ask imbalances never appear, even during obvious aggressive buying (market orders lifting offers)

Request:

Please confirm if there are any known conditions, settings, or limitations that would cause ask imbalances to be suppressed while bid imbalances still display

If possible, I’d appreciate a checklist of exact settings required for ask imbalances to render in Number Bars

Let me know if this could be related to:

Trade classification

Exchange-specific data

Calculation method (Diagonal vs Horizontal)

If needed, I can provide:

Chartbook

Study settings screenshots

Replay example where ask-side execution is visible in Time & Sales but not reflected in Number Bars

Thanks for your help.

What study(ies) are you using to display the Imbalance and how are you setting it(them) up?

If you are using a custom study, then this is not something we can help with.

If you programmed the study yourself, then you are welcome to ask the community for help. We do not give Programming Help as part of our Support.
