Hi, I have used sierra for many years and of, lets say, the last couple of months it has become, sometimes very glitchy. I trade the ES and on occasion the mini ES's...and the best I can remember since version 2762 maybe? It has become very glitchy at times especially with the volatility, It locks up for maybe even a few seconds and then releases the data in "clusters" at times. When the market volume slows down, say after the 4pm close, it does like normal and no problems. When the volume increases, it begins to start the glitching again. I updated today to the latest version,2812, hoping it would maybe fix the problem, but it did not. With it operating like this, I am not confident to place my trades, afraid it might blow past a stop that I have placed, or whatever, so I am hesitant to place live trades. What can I do to fix this?

The question is, when you notice, the "Locks up" condition, is the user interface of Sierra Chart, nonresponsive and inoperable, or instead can you interact with it but just one or more charts are not updating?

At the time of the "lock ups"...it is the software that seems to have locked up...cursor wont move, buy limit/sell limit wont respond...the scrolling wont respond, etc...its like it locks up the software as a whole
I just increased the "update intervals" from 500 to 700 and that seems to have helped it as I use the "chart replay"....I will now switch to real time and see if this had made the difference

You need to go through a process of elimination, for a problem like this.

The first thing is to stop using your existing Chartbook or Chartbooks. Start with a new simple Chartbook and see what happens.

And go through each and every item here:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often

There is a lot of good information there. And you may also have system performance issues. You may have file I/O issues. Install Sierra Chart on its own dedicated solid-state drive. This will be something that may help.

And make sure all security software is disabled on the computer. Or at least not scanning Sierra Chart files or interfering with it in any way.
