I am using the free 21 days trial. Volume data correctly shows on timeframes up to 1 hour. However, on Daily (and bigger) timeframes neither number bars nor VbP display correctly, only candlesticks. You may take a look at the screenshot below which is using VbP, Number bars and candlesticks, and only the latter show correctly, the number bars do not show at all and the VbP shows some strange array of numbers.

I understood that the free trial provides intraday data up to 10 days. In this case, would this solve by limiting the bar count to 10 and, if so, how can I do that?

Daily and higher timeframes use the Daily Historical data and not intraday data. The daily historical data comes from the exchanges and only contains the Open/High/Low/Close/Volume information. So you can not use the Numbers Bars study on this data.

You can get a Volume by Price profile from daily data, but it will not be as accurate as intraday data.

If you want to force a daily (or higher) chart to use Intraday data, then set "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Chart Data Type" to "Intraday Chart Only". Refer to the following:
Chart Settings: Chart Data Type (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Date Range and Limiting Method)

Thanks for clarying John. So, SC picks up Daily Historical Data by default for larger timeframes. However, I can override this and force intraday data. I have tested this and I have Numbers Bars study on a Daily timeframe. Is there any drawback or negative consequence in forcing intraday data ISO Daily Historical data?

Whoops, sorry, it's an acronym for "Instead of". As a software engineering myself I often use it in commit messages, did not mean to use it here.

Well the negative effect, of using Intraday data is that it takes more time to download and create charts from it.

If I understand correctly, this will avoid downloading "Historical Daily Data" as it will download "Historical Intraday Data" instead, with the only drawback of taking more time. And it will not count towards my included 5000 downloads of Daily Historical Data.

Is there a way to set "Intraday Chart only" by default for all charts?

To have "Intraday Chart Only" set for new charts, you would need to use a Template chart. Refer to the following:
