Can someone help me understand the relation and relative difference here in the length of the delta bars to each other and to the total volume bars they are overlayed for the 2 TPO VbP in the attached screenshot? Are the length of the delta bars exclusively just a comparison to the delta in the other bars and have no bearing on the total volume? Trying to understand how to assess the length of the delta bars in relation to each other and the total volume bars they are overlayed. The VbP for TPO in blue (below the delta bars) is just total volume. Appreciate any feedback.

The length of the delta bars is the absolute value of the delta and is relative to the longest total volume bar. So if you had a longest total volume of 1000 and a delta of 100, the delta bar would be 1/10th the size of the total volume bar. This is, of course, when you do not use the option for "Draw Difference of Bid/Ask Volume Using Percent of Max Bar", which you are not. Given this, we do not understand what we are seeing from your image. Please get us that chart so we can take a look. You have two separate Volume by Price studies on the chart. One for Total Volume and one for Ask-Bid Difference. As such, each profile is going to draw the longest bar based on the Inputs for "Maximum Volume Bar Width Type" and "Maximum Volume Bar Width Percentage". Since these are set the same between these two studies, you will have the each drawn such that the longest bar (bar with the greatest volume) is at that width and the rest are relative to that length. If you want to have the Delta be relative to the Total Volume, then you need to use a single Volume by Price study and set the following: - Volume Bar Calculation Method: Total Volume - Bid Volume and Ask Volume Coloring Method: Difference of Bid and Ask Volume Coloring For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
