Hello, I have a question related to running SierraChart on Wine in Debian 13 Linux. I installed Wine by just running a command “apt install wine”, I did not add 32-bit architecture and so far, SC is running smoothly. Do I need to add 32-bit architecture to run SC without issues? Is SC using some 32 code / libraries that would require 32-bit architecture to be added? Cheers, Przemek |

I think Sierra stopped support 32-bit since version 2177, around Oct. 2019

Yes, I've read about it that they don't provide 32-bit installer anymore since quite some time, but sometimes, there are some libraries / parts of code that are left as 32-bit and I'm curious whether that is the case. I assume that if there is only 64-bit installer, everything should work without adding 32-bit architecture in Wine. I'd appreciate feedback from developers whether my assumption is correct ;-) Cheers, Przemek |

There are no parts of Sierra Chart that are 32-bit. Everything is 64-bit and has been for quite some time now.

Awesome! Thank you John! It confirms that I don't need to add 32-bit architecture in Wine ;-) Cheers, Przemek |

No you do not. It is not possible to mix 32-bit and 64-bit modules. Sierra Chart is entirely 64-bit.

Hi, one more question - does it make any difference which Windows version I choose in wine? Will 7 be better than 10? I just noticed the sentence "Newer versions of Windows, in particular windows 8 and 10 and 11, are absolutely completely deranged and lunatic." in this thread: Videos and started to wondering if it makes any difference. Cheers, Przemek |

It might make a difference . You just have to try and experiment. We do not know the answer to this.

Thanks for the answers. I also have Windows 10 selected and it works great so far. I don't want to play changing it to Windows 7 because I don't want to break what I have now. I will survive with the uncertainty if that's not a known answer;-) Cheers, Przemek |
