Please see attached 2 charts - one is from SC and the other from another platform. I noted that at 7:00 am CST each morning, on equities, I see these large tails on the candle stick bars. Please compare to the other chart that does not have these tails. Of course, I cannot trade these tails in SC which is a significant issue. Can you please tell me why this is occurring and how I can remedy the issue? Thank you CNM |

We cannot comment on other charts, from other sources. That is 100% outside the scope of our support. The data you see comes from the CTA and UTP feeds, and it is all implemented according to industry specifications. There is no problem. We will not say anything further. What you see is coming from the industry feeds. And it is specified to be included in the charts. Just make sure you are not including Odd Lot trades: Chart Settings: Include Odd Lot Equity Trades (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Data >> Chart Data menu) Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. SC support- Even with odd lots turn off I have the same issue. Is there some quick/easy way you can help us equity traders that have this issue? It mostly shows up at 8am EST daily. It makes the chart unreadable. Thanks

My Odd lots are also turned off. My guess on what is going on here (though SC may be able to shed some light on this) is that the SC data feed is including all the data, including the "thin" data or "very low volume" data which I think is making these large tails on the candle sticks. I think some platforms or data feeds are "filtering out" these low volume areas thus eliminating these tails. I could be totally wrong on this though and I'm not sure why SC won't give us clarity?

From our perspective, and what the exchanges tell us, we are doing everything correctly. This is the data as we get it from the exchange. We do not want to modify the data in any way. Therefore, what is showing is what we have been told to display.

SC -support, yes, I can understand your reasoning and it is logical. You should give us the best/accurate data. The issue is the data we are getting during the pre-market times makes the chart unreadable. This is an issue for all users of your equity data feeds. Can you propose, or build a solution in later versions, that would allow us to disregard data from a certain time period or some way to remove the odd lot wicks? I think we are all open to suggestions from you we just want a readable chart with the understanding there might be some small transactions that we are removing. Thank you for your consideration.

The only thing we can tell you to do at this time is to set your Session Times to not print the bars in the times where these occur. Can you please tell me how to filter out just a 5 or 10 min block of time starting and ending at the same time each day? It does not appear that I can have 2 start and ending times in one day?

You can have exactly 2 start and end times each day. There is a Regular Session Hours and an Evening Session Hours that you can setup in the Session Times for your chart. So you can set these as you want them to not show a particular set of time.
