Second Broker Account

I'm asking on behalf of a good friend.

She has opened a second AMP account and now wants to trade with both accounts, sometimes simultaneously.

What is the procedure now? Do two copies have to be open, or would a second instance also work?

Is there a difference between using everything on one PC or on a second PC?

Is there a difference in the procedure between using Denali (==>> order routing) or Teton?

Surely a second data feed has to be ordered?

Is it (maybe) also possible to have only one copy open and then switch between both LIVE accounts, similar to switching from SIM 1 to SIM 3?

Many thanks

If you are using CQG just have AMP add another account to your CQG username. If you are using Teton order routing, simply have AMP add the other account, to your Sierra Chart username.

You can then select, the account to use:
Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Main/C >> Trade Account (Selecting Trade Account for Chart / Trade DOM)

No, as long as Sierra Chart is only being used on one computer at a time:

Surely a second data feed has to be ordered?

Thanks for the quick reply. But I need to ask again.

You say, "If you are using CQG just have AMP add another account to your CQG username." Yes, CQG... is setup

In “Data Trade Service Settings” CQG is already set up with the existing login details.

Where/how can I now add a new account in the same copy?

There is nothing that you do on your Sierra Chart side. The broker does this and then you see the account listed in the list of accounts. You will need to reconnect after they add the account with File >> Reconnect.

I hope we're talking about the same thing.
My good friend has two separate AMP accounts. Each account has its own name and password.
It's not a sub-account, but two separate accounts.

So I'm wondering how it's supposed to work. How is AMP supposed to know which account I'm currently trading with?

Many thanks

In this case, you install two installations of Sierra Chart:
Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time

Each one set to use a different CQG username.

Thank you.

Just to clarify something for me regarding data feed. If I use the second instance option, then I don't need a second data feed.

But what if I use a second copy? Do I have to subscribe to a second data feed?
Is there a difference in the data feed depending on whether I use the copy on the same PC or on a different one?

Thank you very much.

Sorry, this is all a bit confusing for me.

I have now opened a second instance. In the “Data/Trade Service...” menu, I don't see any option to create a new AMP account with setting different login details.

You write: “... if the particular Trading service username that you are logged in with, supports multiple trading accounts..." Do I need to contact AMP to let them know that I want to use a second instance, or what do I need to do if I want to use the second instance option?

My understanding so far is that I need to have two different copies for two different AMP accounts. The idea of a second instance might be a good solution for my friend.

You do not need 2 Sierra Chart accounts. You need just one! Use only one Sierra Chart account. Not two.

You will need 2 separate independent installations of Sierra Chart. Follow the instructions here to do that:

Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time

You will never be using File >> New Instance.

As long as both copies of Sierra Chart are on the same computer, you do not need to pay a second exchange fee for real-time data.

Okay, let me summarise again for my understanding.

Initial situation:
2 separate broker accounts (no additional sub-accounts).

A) As long as I don't have >3 SC copies open at the same time, I don't need an additional SC account.
B) If I want to use both broker accounts at the same time, I have to work with two separate SC copies; a second instance is not feasible/ not working.

Now it's a question of using one or two separate PCs.

C) If I only use one PC, I do not need an additional data feed.

D) If I want to use two separate PCs, I will probably have to order an additional data feed. Is that correct?

There is no limit to the number of installations running of Sierra Chart on the same computer. You can have 100 if you want.

You will just have to pay another exchange fee:
Denali Exchange Data Feed: Connections
