Hi, when downloading historical data for micro bitcoin futures, more than 320 .dly files were downloaded. Most of them are empty because MBT futures only exist since few years ago. That would not be a big issue but each download counts towards the 5000 limit Vaidotas Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-08-06 17:23:51

Ok, thanks for the response. I know that you are not checking historical data, so its up to me to make sure I request number of days that actually exist. Even though it would be nice to add a check and not pump the empty files for contracts that never existed. While on the topic of historical data. If you are getting data from the third party provider and they charge you a lot for that, you can demand data to be high quality. There are quite a few mistakes in historical data. For example EP(ES) April 7th low was 4832 but historical data says low was 4830. Accuracy is important, especially for such important prices Anyway, thank you. Could not fint any mention of this in docs but now I understand that there are no checks and SC will request as many monthly contracts data as I have set even though these contracts were not existing Thanks All the best Vaidotas |

We will tell our data provider about this: There are quite a few mistakes in historical data. For example EP(ES) April 7th low was 4832 but historical data says low was 4830. Accuracy is important, especially for such important prices Every chart data file that a chart will interact with, does get created and there is a reason for this. It is not something that would change. You do need to be careful and not set a chart to load so much data unnecessarily. It causes more problems than just additional files. I have some historical charts lasting 50 years for charting. For example corn etc. I just duplicated the chart and changed symbol to bitcoin. We all learn something new everyday. Was quite surprised to see files for 1995 for bitcoin :) Its just something I need to know. Now that I have confirmation I will think about it when I create a historical chart for something with not a lot of history Thanks again, writing for sierra charts is a breeze. So well written, and best in class docs. As a developer I really appereciate it. Keep it up! Thanks and all the best Vaidotas |

Regarding the apparent data error, this is from our data provider: I have looked at our records and I can confirm the low 4/7/25 for ESU25 was 4830 based on the official CME EOD prices.
