Morning John, Remember a few months ago I wrote that on a few of my instances, there was no updating of the charts despite data flowing. The way I ultimately fixed it was in desperation trying 'translate symbols...' after restarting or redownloading data didn't work. Well, it happened again, and I fixed it again. Here are the facts 1- restart SC on Sunday to do my prep for the week ahead. Everything is fine and normal 2- finish and put pc into sleep mode for easy restart this morning 3- open pc just now and find the previous affected instance(which is on all service feed) not updating, along with one in my Teton feed. See the attached screenshot 4- close SC, restart, and same dead data despite as you see green data feed box 5- Remember the 'translate' trick. Hit that and bingo, all charts wake and update perfectly. See the second screenshot Now it is obvious there was no disruption, nor changing of my data feeds overnight whilst pc was in sleep mode. So there is obviously some sort of bug that pops up from time to time. The instances were on two different feeds, and were 2 different types of charts. I fixed the issue, not a problem, but you need to know this happens, and if it does to someone else, what fixes it. thanks mate, karen |

Your symbols are getting changed for some reason in those sub-instances. We do not know why, and there are no other reports of anything like this occurring. There has to be something that is being done that is causing the symbols to change.

Mate, it was working fine on Sunday afternoon. All I did was put computer on sleep. I opened pc this morning and that instance was stuck. So do you think there is a bug in one of my custom studies? The other 2 instances were fine very odd indeed, but at least I can fix it. Karen |

I wouldn't trust Windows sleep mode to not cause issues when awakened. I never use sleep or hibernate modes on my trading computer. And Windows updates are only at manual shutdown or restart, never automatic. |

Look into MS PowerToys - all kinds of useful mini apps including Awake. I use 3 or 4 of the programs dedicated for Sierra Chart configs, FancyZones is a life saver for multi screen SC layouts. |

sorry boys it gets weirder...I haven't looked at gold in ages. I had full chartbook with gold charts. It is in an instance that is working perfectly. I open chartbook, what do I find...frozen charts. See 1st attachment. This was date I last looked at gld. Also notice it is the Aug contract so not expired. And then what do I do? Yes, 'translate....' and bingo update working charts... dunno what to say... |

If you had not opened that Chartbook in awhile, then it's possible that the symbols were setup for the Teton service at the time it was last saved, but you were now using "SC Data" for your connected service. Keep in mind that every service has a different symbology.

John, you know I LOVE YOU and all your help but gold futures have always only been on All service. Only nq and es are charted on Teton. It is all good, I can deal w it, but honestly mate there is some sort of glitch going on. It's weird I know. thanks for your reply, I just want you to be in loop. Hope you are having a great summer! karen |

Take a look at how you have the setting for "Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Translate Symbols Automatically in Chartbooks and Quote Boards". If this is set to "Yes", then whenever you open an instance it will update the symbols based on what the "Current Selected Service" is set to at that time. refer to the following: Advanced Service Settings: Translate Symbols Automatically in Chartbooks and Quote Boards (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Other) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
