Possible bug found. Due to an interaction between Sierra sending a request for an invalid ticker, and Rithmic, Sierra goes into a loop of trying to download data, failing, and freezing the screen non-stop in a self imposed denial of service loop. Denali seems immune to this issue. It's a bug I accidentally triggered when trying to hit a hot key I use (the backtick character, top left of a standard keyboard), and Sierra took the character to be a ticker for Intraday data download. (I've noticed this " `.scid " file in the data directory for months that I would delete, but it would just come back. I thought it might be some internal file, and didn't look very hard to find where it came from). I always use Denali data (until this week), so I never noticed any issues. Sierra is not usable while the messages at the bottom of the screen alternate every 2 seconds between the 3 messages: "Historical Intraday Data Download Complete", "Downloading Historical Intraday Data", and "Waiting to Download Historical Intraday Data". Specifically, if one of the ticker symbols scheduled for Intraday data download is a backtick (literally the backtick character " ` " ), Rithmic goes into this doom-loop. I removed the symbol from Sierra, and the Intraday data downloaded using Rithmic right away. I was able to repeat this with 3 different Rithmic data providers (Take Profit Trader, Thrive Trading, and Funded Futures Network). Please see attached screenshots and log. Video also available. |
