Yes using what is described in post #4 would make sense.

can the top and bottom edges of the box be set to reflect the high and the low price for the session

Previously when we read the above, we did not take note of "session". And they wanted to highlight the open they said. So we thought the appropriate study would be Time Line. We were thinking they wanted just the high to low of the first bar of the open highlighted. That does not really make sense because you can already see that.

And it does not make sense to use High/Low for Time Period for a single bar because there can be associated problems with that when in the chart bar time frame is changed.
