Post From: Why don't main instance and sub-instances share the same data folder?

Well first I'm gonna describe my situation cause I'm probably missing something

My problem is that I have too many chartbooks so I thought I would use two instances only for "organizing purposes": one instance for futures and another one for forex.
So I used the function "File -> New Instance" which created a sub-instance in the same folder.

Is this the way to go or there's a better solution for my problem?

Now I'm finding this kinda messy. Some assets won't load well in my subinstance charts so I need to load them in my main instance first. Then I need to load them in my subinstance chartbooks and finally delete them (manually) from the main data folder to avoid duplicates.

This is so laborious and if you are not careful you can end up with a big chunk of duplicated data. Why not just share the same data folder for main instance and subinstances? It's much more simple and I just don't see any disadvantage in that.
