What is the correct and reliable way to determine inside the Spreadsheet whether the current Renko brick is bullish or bearish?
Use this example in row 3 of a spare Formula Column, e.g. T3:
=IF(OR(ID2.SG2@3>ID2.SG1@3,AND(ID2.SG1@3>ID2.SG2@4,ID2.SG1@3=ID2.SG2@3)),1, IF(OR(ID2.SG2@3<ID2.SG1@3,AND(ID2.SG1@3<ID2.SG2@4,ID2.SG1@3=ID2.SG2@3)),-1,T4))
where ID2 is the Renko Visual Open/Close Values study.
This is based on this example:
Spreadsheet Example Formulas and Usage: Formula that Matches the Coloring of Up and Down Price Bars

What is the best way to place an order immediately after a trading rule is fulfilled at the close of the last brick that confirms the rule, so that the order is placed at the open of the next brick, without using ACSIL?
When a Renko bar is being built, it displays the actual O/C. When the bar is complete and a new one starts, the previous bar displays the Renko O/C.
Try using the above example to determine the bar direction.

This is another thing I do when using Renko bars:
I put these OHLC formulas in these columns, then reference them instead of columns B,C,D,E:
AB3: =IF(ROW()=3,B3,ID2.SG1@3)
AC3: =C3
AD3: =D3
AE3: =IF(ROW()=3,E3,ID2.SG2@3)
- Where ID2 is the Renko Visual Open/Close Values study.
- Using these columns makes it easy to remember which one to reference, because of the similarity.
