It is definitely not fair at all to be calling this "crap". This is not the case at all. Sierra Chart provides the actual industry data feed. If we remove alternative display facility trades, we would be taking out about 70% or so of the volume. We did analyze this previously. The thread is here: Notice: Regarding Premarket Off Price Trades in US Equities And it is not all day long. That is completely and totally false. This has never been the case. If you include Odd Lot trades, sometimes you will see trades that are outside of the normal price range. But you can remove those: Chart Settings: Include Odd Lot Equity Trades (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Data >> Chart Data menu) So you must be including Odd Lot trades. The option to remove those, has been in place for many years now. Out of range trades, that are not Odd Lots are only during the pre-and post-market. Not during regular trading hours. Anyway, the reason we are posting here, in about 30 days or so maybe sooner, Alternative Display Facility trades from FINRA will be identified in the data stream. And we will add the capability to filter them out. So you will be able to filter those out through a Chart Setting. But we suspect when you actually see what that option is going to do, you are not going to be happy with it since you will lose a lot of volume. Unless we limit it to the pre-or post-market.
