OK, turning it off, I see it is rendered properly. This is annoying because SC is very slow for me without the GL-related hardware acceleration. Any workarounds you can suggest? Edit: it seems the only workaround is to not use such characters in a way that it can impact alignment. Edit2: nevermind, seems like I can't even do that.
