We want to describe one issue that has arisen that was unknown to us to have happened when our own MDI functionality was implemented. The solution is not very easy. When changing between Chartbooks, and you have set Sierra Chart to not destroy the chart windows when charts are hidden, is the z-order of the chart windows is not necessarily going to be maintained when switching back to a particular Chartbook, as it was before. One thing we want to make 100% clear, it has always always been the case for all versions of Sierra Chart, going back to the very beginning that when you open a Chartbook, the order of the charts will be according to how they are listed in Window >> Windows and Chartbooks. This has never changed and is 100% the same in current versions. The only difference is that when you switch between Chartbooks that are already open, the Z order of the charts may be different in a particular Chartbook as it was before when it is hidden. When you switch back to a Chartbook the z-order of the charts will be to how they are listed in Window >> Windows and Chartbooks. If you want a particular order change the order there. What has changed, and why this is the case we do not know, is that now that the MDI functionality is implemented by Sierra Chart, when we show a window, but not activate it, from a hidden state, the z-order of that window changes. Why that is the case, when the MDI functionality is implemented by Sierra Chart, we do not know. The very same operating system command to show a hidden window is being used. And the very same state is being used. The solution is simple. Change the order of the charts as you want in Window >> Windows and Chartbooks. One thing that we can do is add an option so that when you activate a chart, and therefore changing its z-order, we can move it to the bottom of the list in Window >> Windows and Chartbooks. But this would be kind of odd behavior because you would then instantly notice the chart tab for that chart to actually move at that time.
