Post From: Trade/Quote Symbol unexpectedly changed without warning, triggering Daily Loss Limit

I have experienced either an undocumented issue or an issue that is not made clear in the documentation for the pertinent topics. Though I am trading on a prop firm account via Rithmic, the problem I am describing below is not Rithmic data/trade execution related. It is strictly a Sierra Chart issue.

For months, I have been using the Trade and Current Quote Symbol setting to Chart NQ and trade on MNQ. This is because I prefer the lower risk/leverage of trading MNQ micros vs. the amplified risk of trading minis on the NQ. I have many charts on my chartbook, the majority of which are configured in this manner. Today (4/21) I placed several trades during premarket using this configuration, as is my usual habit. I did not place any trades between 8:44:55 and 9:31:03 (Eastern times). The only activity that I did wherein I actively changed something in the chartbook is copying a drawing from one chart to another.

I have sent Message Log via the "Send for Analysis" option. The issue occurs exactly at 9:17:33. You will see that the symbol suddenly changes from the expected NQM6.CME/MNQM6.CME to just NQM6.CME. At no point did I go into chart settings/symbol settings to change this. To confirm this for myself before typing this message, I re-watched a video recording of my screen (I video record my main monitor that contains the main sierra chart window/control bar/DOM every trading session) and saw that the symbol on my DOM changed exactly at this time.

Trade activity log confirms that all trades placed prior to 9:31:03 were executed on MNQ, as expected and habitual. However, due to the sudden and unexplained change from MNQ to NQ, all trades placed at 9:31:03 were done on the NQ, which was not desired at all. Because I trade with P&L hidden (a personal choice), I did not notice that my P&L was fluctuating by a much larger degree than expected. What happened is that each trade I executed was done using NQ minis instead of MNQ micros. This resulted in a Daily Loss Limit being triggered on my evaluation account, resulting in weeks of lost time. Again, this is not a Rithmic/prop firm account issue.

Something occurred within Sierra chart to cause the chart/trading symbol to change unexpectedly, presumably when I copied one drawing from a chart to another. There is some kind of interaction between chart drawing copying, chart linking, and the trade/quote symbol "yes/no" toggle within chart linking that is causing this issue. I am 99% certain this is not user error on my part. If it is an error on my part, I do not think that the catastrophic result of the trade/quote symbol being changed without warning is adequately documented. Again, never once did I manually go into Chart Settings-->Symbol and manually delete the "Trade and Current Quote Symbol (Action)" field.

As I mentioned above, I have many charts in my chartbook. Most experienced this catastrophic error of surreptitiously changing from MNQ execution to NQ execution. A few charts did not (i.e., they maintained the correct NQM6.CME/MNQM6.CME configuration). I do not know why this has happened. Most of my charts are linked within the same group. Yet, most charts within this linked group experienced the change; some did not. I do not understand why this happened. And this has caused my prop firm account to experience a Daily Loss Limit breach. As I mentioned, I trade exclusively on the MNQ micros. For Sierra Chart to suddenly change symbol settings, this meant that every trade was executed on NQ minis. This sudden change will cost me weeks of work. This is incredibly frustrating. Please look into this ASAP. As this issue is not able to be illustrated by attaching a single chart, for now I have only sent the Message Log for Analysis. I am saving the chartbook with the issue I described above under a different name, so that these unexpected changes will not affect my day-to-day chartbook. I can provide the chartbook with the issue if need be. I can also provide the video of my screen that shows I did not gone into chart settings to change the symbol.
