For support for fractional/floating-point values for volumes in Intraday data, we are now working towards a new Intraday data file format which has its own built-in compression (ZLib).

Even though, the types are larger (8 bytes versus 4 bytes for prices and volumes), we expect that the size of these files will be smaller than the existing files and will not rely on operating system compression.

All values including price and volume values will be double precision floating point types (8 bytes).

Where necessary, the DTC protocol messages are also being updated to double types from float where floats are being used for prices or volumes.

Sierra Chart already has support for double precision fractional trading order quantities for many years now. This has been in existence about eight years.
