IBKR Lite accounts do not allow socket connections to the Interactive Brokers API (TWS API or IB Gateway). Socket-based API connections, which are used for algorithmic trading and automated platforms (like Python ibapi, Bookmap, or Trade Ideas), require an IBKR Pro account. IBKR Lite Limitations: API connections are blocked. The API setting "Enable ActiveX and Socket Clients" will not work for, or is not available to, Lite accounts. Pro Requirement: You must have an IBKR Pro account to use the TCP socket connections (ports 7496/7497). Sierra Chart requires access to Socket Port 7496.
