The day before yesterday, I was creating a preset (config) for the Ray tool and couldn’t figure out how to save it so that it would save the text (line description) along with the line thickness and color. So I asked Grok to find out how to do this in Sierra Chart. He revealed to me that, in addition to the Tool Properties window (Ray Properties), there is also a Tool Config (Ray Config) window, where the option "Copy Tool Config Name To Text" is located. Given these facts, I have three questions. 1. Why can’t the text be saved as a preset along with the other settings (color, line thickness, etc.)? 2. Why are there two windows in Sierra Chart (Tool Config and Tool Properties) that contain almost identical settings? If I can set, save, or modify a preset in Ray Properties, what is the Ray Config window for? I placed these windows side by side (see screenshot), and the only differences are the Anchors tab and the Extend Left, Extend Right, and Copy Tool Config Name To Text settings. Nothing else. I don’t really see a reason for the separate Tool Config window to exist. 3. Why is the Copy Tool Config Name To Text setting hidden in Tool Config and not also in Tool Properties, where it would make sense? Thank you. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2026-03-26 08:55:24
