You can not change the colors from the "Color" selection on the right-click menu. The instructions state the following: Right-click on a Chart Drawing and select Chart Drawing Properties
So you need to select "Chart Drawing Properties" which is above the "Color" item in your menu as you have it shown in the image. Then select the "Color" in that window, which will bring up the Windows color picker. Follow the rest of the instructions from there.
