I recently moved from Windows (I've been on DOS/Windows since the 80s) to Arch Linux. I just couldn't stand the Windows enshittification any more. The only reason I boot Win11 anymore is to run Sierra Chart native for an hour or so during RTH, since my trading style is very short-term and dependent on DOM, pullback columns, T&S, etc. and I want as few impediments to I/O as possible.

Though I'm on Arch Linux now, I understand the SC team's frustration with all the major operating systems. I hope they just bypass major OS altogether and create a homegrown trading technology stack that needs to live on its own SSD. Perhaps add support for one or two web browser families (Chrome and friends, Firefox), and leave the Win/Mac/Unix madness behind. I certainly understand the pain of supporting all the different use cases out there, but perhaps taking the SC community in the direction of a custom, minimalist OS is the right path.

Regardless, I will keep using SC. It is truly one of the few sane bits of complex software out there.

Happy Trading and Computing Everyone!
