Hi, This is a subjective question because it depends of your kind of trading. If you have multiple monitors with a lot of charts open, a lot of studies, and need a fast update interval for your charts, you'll need a beast of a processor. Graphic card doesn't matter unless OpenGL is activated. On my side, my trading system only need a single screen with 4 DOMs and a few small charts. The DOMs and the charts are in 2 separate instances which distribute the load on 2 CPU cores. The DOMs have a 40ms refresh rate, the charts 100ms or more depending of the need. For this setup, my laptop (Thinkpad P1 Gen6) processor Intel 13900H is plenty enough, and I don't use OpenGL. The 2 cores are used at about 50% of their capacity. You don't want the cores to be overloaded (like 80-90% constant load) because you'll experience lag during high market activity. I can't speak about internet because I live in Europe... On a good day I have 120ms ping which is a pain for scalping. But no choice, I have to deal with it. In summary, my small experience with Sierra Chart makes me understand that what is the most important thing is a CPU with high single core performance because Sierra Chart isn't a multi-core program. High core count is useless unless you use a lot of sub-instances, high single core performance is everything that matter. RAM quantity, 32GB is plenty enough. Graphic card is useless unless OpenGL is activated. A Sierra Chart dedicated SDD is also a must to speed up the loading of the charts. |
