Our first guess is that you are not opening a position. When you place the order, it is not a Market order, but is a limit or Stop-Limit of some kind, therefore there is no open position at that point. And when you Flatten/Cancel you are doing this before the parent order fills, so you were never in an open position to flatten. But you are seeing attached orders showing and those are removed with the Flatten and Cancel command. Check the Order Type you are entering on the Trade Window and make sure it is for the type you want and at the price point you want. Another possibility is that you may be looking at a different Trade Window that has a different trading account selected. In other words, you are actually trading Sim2 (for example) and not Sim1, but the Trade Window you are viewing is for Sim1.
