When using the ntfy app, if you do not receive automatic updates and have to do a manual refresh by pulling down the screen that shows the list of messages, then go back to the main home screen of the ntfy app, that shows the notification topic you are subscribed to. See if it says "reconnecting" underneath.

If so, that is the reason automatic updates are not occurring.

We have seen this. Next time it occurs we will troubleshoot why this is happening.
