In the newest release, we have experimented with a change where any sounds that are queued up, will be immediately played but they will terminate the prior sound playing. This will help somewhat but we are not sure this is a good solution. If you notice a space of 3 to 4 seconds, most likely this is going to be a system issue or the result of a sound file being longer in time than you expect. You need to shorten your sound files as short as possible. You may be surprised to find out the actual time of them is longer than you realize.
