It sounds like you have the option for "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Chart Data Type" set to "Intraday Chart Only". Then when you change the period to a daily or higher, it creates the bars based on the Intraday data and not the historical daily data. Set this to "Intraday Chart" and then when you change periods to a daily or higher, it will use the Historical Daily Data instead of the Intraday data.
